The building of the house on 8th Avenue is finally under way. We are seeking help from volunteers who can paint, pick up trash, or any contractors would be welcome too. I have a picture of the current status and a letter that is for a press release. You can contact Habitat for Humanity in Crawford County at  crawfordcohabitat@yahoo.com and your contact is Dave McDiffit or myself Jeff A. Lehart. This is a great cause and a great deserving family. Let's be a community and show our support. Press_Release_per_2011_Habitat_House.docx

Habitat is a great, great program. I am hoping to contact you soon to volunteer.

Jeff,

Having just read that there are 700+ vacant properties in Galion, why is Habitat for Humanity building more?  Can they just fix an existing one up for a deserving family?

Sadly the empty units might be closer to 1000 now. The census was taken in 2010 before hundreds has their utilities yanked last year.

Now 2,400 more homes are in that same position.

I'm sure there are lots of homes in Galion willing to be unloaded for non-profit.  My wife and I recently moved out of Galion and would be happy to get pay off for our house so we do not have to deal with being land-lords.  Jeff - I know you do your research on everything, but if there is anyway to get rid of our old house for non-profit, while helping someone else, get in touch with me.  The house was built in 1970 so no lead based paint or asbestos.
