Why is that nearly every piece of legislation is passed in emergency legislation in Galion ?

They do it in this manner so they only have to discuss it once, those that have concerns, can not come back to the next meeting with evidence refuting city councils claims or concerns.

There is reason the city charter requires multiple readings for legislation, yet Galion no longer believes in it.

Normal communities do not operate on this level.

So what did Galion have last night ?

Emergency legislation regarding another AMP contract that needs to be agreed on by June 15th. AMP notified communities months ago about the Fremont plant option, and communities around the midwest have been discussing it.

In Galion, everything operates in secrecy and then must be acted upon in an emergency session.

How about Orrville, home of Smuckers and Folgers Coffee  ?

First reading was on May 5th, then they will have two more readings before a final vote happens. This allows plenty of discussion in the community for something that is binding for 50 years on all the citizens

More lies last night and left out a lot of information.

Toy left out Galion just signed up for a 50 year commitment to purchase power from the AMP Fremont plant.

Galion already with all the contracts signed with AMP purchases more power than is needed, so Galion is going to buy more ?

Price claimed Galion can sell the excess power ? To who ?  Not a single AMP community has ever been able to sell excess power, Not Galion.... nobody. Infact there is more electric power available now in the midwest there there has been in nearly two decades. There will be no buyers for the extra power Galion will buy. Galion utility customers will be stuck paying for it for 50 years now.

Sell excess power to who Price ? There is no demand and wont be. Everday thousands of more kilowatts are added from wind, solar and then kick in conservation.

The Gorsuch plant is being closed ? It closed last December and Galion is on the hook for millions of dollars for the clean up. Now Toy is trying to tell everyone that it is still open.

Why didn't Toy tell the citizens this ?

Toy and City council just unleashed the last torpedeo into the side of the SS GALION and when these AMP contracts hit, you'll understand then.

Ok now. Let me see how simple I can make this. Simple enough hopefully so that even galiongirl can understand.

Clyde owned their own system.

People like galiongirl thought the grass was greener so they whined and convinced the city to sell to Toledo Edison.

The experiment turned out so bad that the voters realized their mistake and voted to issue debt to build the system they had sold to Toledo Edison. They had to do that because Edison refused to sell it back. Those investor-owned's are just wonderful, aren't they galiongirl?

Of course you won't believe me, I'm sure. At least have the cajones to woman-up after you've done your own research and come on here and admit you were wrong.

Shirley still refuses to tell the citizens of Galion that they are rolling over 2.4 millin dolars in debt for a plant she signed onto that AMP never built.

This money will now be rolled into the " NEW FREMONT " plant and everyone will pay for it on their bills.

Brilliant decision making...

Clyde Oho.

In 1965, the city of Clyde " leased " their electric grid to Toledo Edison for 25 years. During that 25 year period Toledo Edison was to be the sole provider of electrical service to everyone in the community. This contract was good until 1990.

In 1987, Clyde decided to break the contract with Toledo Edison 3 years early. Toledo Edison refused and held Clyde accountable to the lease agreement.

Clyde made a very stupid financial mistake,  Clyde lost the supreme court decision.

No experiment at all in Clyde,  just absulotue sheer imcompentence and utter stupidity. Sounds familiar....
