I cannot get over the changes in technology that have impact on a day-to-day basis, even for us folk here in little 'ol Galion, Ohio. I wanted to share just a bit of that...

In the last month, I have become a fan of "Skype," the online service that provides video conferencing between computers, anywhere in the world. If a camera or laptop is using wi-fi, the possibilities are amazing. In the last month, for instance, I have done the following from house here in town:

  • Had a conversation with my youngest brother while he was at a hotel room in Myrtle Beach, spending a few vacation days with his family.

  • Spoke to my son at Bowling Green State University.

  • Enjoyed an online tour of my mother's apartment on South Padre Island, Texas, including a visit outdoors to see the palm trees, water, etc. (for those who may not know, South Padre is on the Gulf of Mexico, about as far south in Texas as one is able to go!)

  • Last night, spoke to my brother Scott and his wife Jodie in Ogden, Utah -- including a tour of their new house, and a trip outside to see the Wasatch Mountains (which I miss after living in Salt Lake City for five years a couple of decades ago)

And all of this for -- free! AMAZING!!!

I agree with that. I use it daily and has cut down on my need for traveling tremendously.
Whenever I watch an old rerun of the first generation of the Star Trek series, it is amazing how many of the fantasy gadgets actually came to life.

The hand held communicators are cell phones

Phasers are stun guns

About the only thing left is that they haven't figured out, a way to beam people up...yet
LOL, not so sure I'd be ready for that. Although it would be nice to avoid the TSA clowns at the airports.

Give it time.
A Star Trek communicator, amazing how closely it resembles a modern cell phone....

I have some Beam :) But Damit Jim I need more power.
I get this feeling that our grandkids are going to look back and laugh at the fact that we live in a non 3-D digital world.
Wish I could download it to my BB...supposedly I don't have enough space. BOO!
