Downtown Business Needs To Synchronize Business Hours

Unfortunately, like many people in Galion I usually don't shop downtown Galion and drive to Ontario automatically. One of the main reasons is the hassle of figuring out which stores are open and when.
The other issue in my opinion is that the hours that the stores are open for "business hours" when working people can't get to
them to shop. All downtown areas suffer in small cities but you have to make it more convenient and enjoyable.
I grew up in Wooster and the downtown merchants all got together and closed early every Wednesday so that they could afford
longer weekend hours.

Like Tracy, I agree that the downtown needs some method of coming together on business hours, etc. I am one who would prefer to shop local, and I do. I am in agreement with the 3/5 program whose premise is that if you want your local businesses to survive, you should spend $50 at three businesses a month ( would include groceries, etc.) I may not have this entirely correct, but basically the bottom line is that they need our support. The opposing argument naturally, is that they also need to access the needs of the community, and in that, I think they are at least trying. Keep in mind that there doesn't seem to be an organized association like the one that used to be in operation ( Uptowne Association?) and that would definitely help. I think there are a lot of people that one to see Galion thrive, and come together to promote the downtown. Once again I will say that research shows that the future of small towns lies in promoting their uniqueness and showcasing what they have. We could be a smaller version of Wooster, Mt Vernon, etc-- but it takes cooperation and a determination to work together.
